My Updates

Day 10 - Friday April 10th

Saturday 11th Apr
Mother Nature is playing games with me
after a beautiful day yesterday I woke up to a winter wonderland today.
It was hard to get myself geared up to go. By the afternoon the sun came out and it started getting warmer so I decided the time was right before Mother Nature changed her mind again.

As I walked, I passed by 2 Canadian Geese that were really NOT happy to see me and 1 Golden Retriever (Joy - the Bala Cranberry Marsh’s Ambassador Dog) that was.
I completed the exact same route as yesterday and today my tracking app calculated it as 6.2K today. So I don’t know what happened yesterday but I’ll take it as a win today!
(Photo: Joy - basking in the haphazard sunshine).

Walking total: 58K
Fundraising Total: $690

Day 8 & 9 - April 8 & 9th

Saturday 11th Apr

So
apparently I forgot to post an update yesterday. I didn’t make a video but accomplished another 5K.

Today was a beautiful day!!! I seem to be having an issue with the tracking app that I have been using though. I did my usual 5K route and then I kept walking. I estimated that I did an additional 1-2K but when I got back home the app showed that I had only completed 5K
!?!?
I checked with another step counting app that I have and it confirmed that I definitely had walked a lot more steps than 5K.
I have decided to just log today’s walk as 5K despite the discrepancy. I will be double checking it daily but honestly the extra walking is good for me so whatever.
If you’re still following along, thank-you!!!!!!
(Maybe you could let me know in the comments even if it’s just a đŸ‘đŸ». It will encourage me to continue the updates/videos
).

Current fundraising total: $640
Current walking total: 52K

Day 7 - Tuesday April 7

Tuesday 7th Apr
Day  7 - Heart and Stroke Walking Challenge Update

Wow! One week
I can’t believe it but I already feel it. My muscles ache less and I dont feel as tired afterwards. I have raised $620 so far and walked 42km!!!

‘Old Man Winter’ visited again last night
more like COLD Man Winter. It was chilly today and I started thinking that I wish there was a way to walk indoors. After a quick google search I found an indoor walking track nearby. Bingo~
It was great! A nice flat path in a warm cozy building and water filling stations. I completed a 7K walk in record time.

Tomorrow’s weather forecast is looking sunny and much warmer so I’ll be back to walking outside, with bells on (literally - a bear bell as a much needed safety precaution in my neck of the woods).

Day 5

Sunday 5th Apr
Day 5 - Sunday April 5

Today I was back home and went on a 4K walk before heading off to another Easter dinner with my “Walking-Challenge” friend, Alyssa, and her family.

After 3 big meals and 3 shorter walks in the past 3 days, I plan to get back on schedule with a 5K+ walk tomorrow.

Hopefully Mother Nature starts to cooperate a little better because as I write this there are huge snowflakes falling from the sky and I really dont want to dig out my snowpants for tomorrow’s walk! đŸ™đŸ»

Day 4 -Saturday April 4

Sunday 5th Apr
Most of my day was spent prepping for and then travelling to  my parents for Easter Dinner with my family but I was determined to complete a daily walk even if it was short. So after dinner I borrowed an umbrella and went out to trek around my parent’s neighbourhood.
It gave me the opportunity to reflect on so many things that I am thankful for , especially my family and everyone that has been so supportive of me during this challenge. Happy Easter everyone!

Day 3

Friday 3rd Apr
Thursday April 3rd - Good Friday

It was a busy day and I was a little worried about how I as going to fit a walk in today. I was able to squeeze it in just before sunset luckily.
Day 3 brought another new route because I wanted to give my calves a break and avoid hilly terrain. Hanna Park was the perfect choice. I logged 5.1kms just before it started getting dark.

Today I reached my fundraising goal which is currently at $520!!!!
Unfortunately no where near my walking goal of 120kms.

Day 2

Thursday 2nd Apr
Today was a rainy wet walk but I didn’t let the weather (or a pulled muscle from yesterday) hinder my progress.
I am overwhelmed (and emotional) from all the support, love & encouragement I have been receiving.
My target fundraising goal is more than half way achieved due to my very kind and generous friends and family. Thank-you! 💜

Day 1

Wednesday 1st Apr
I just got back from a 5.1K walk on my first day.
It was a nice walk. A bit chilly (0 degrees) at the start but warmed up quickly. Soft gravel and puddles were a bit of a challenge but I feel good. A pair of robins started following me about half way through. First robins I’ve seen this spring.
