My Updates

My life the last year.

Saturday 29th Aug
My name is Talyssa Yellowknife.

I am a 34 year old mother to 2 children in ontario. Between October 30th and November 13th I suffered a series of multiple strokes due to ICA dissection aswell as an almost full blockage that lead to a blood clot. I went through multiple scans and medications to save my life.

10 months later, from the outside looking in (passing through a grocery store, dropping my son off at school, etc) the lasting affects arent immediately noticed. However I have daily struggles with my left side of my body. It affects my eyes mouth arm and leg at different variations. My left eye does not track at the same rate as my right eye does now, my left side of my mouth gets very tense at times and can be difficult to use, my left arm/hand go numb frequently (ive dropped many items with no intention on doing so, my arm flings at times when I walk etc) i am also left side dominant in life so it makes the challenges greater. My biggest struggld in recovery has been with my left leg. I have fallen many times due to buckling, it going numb, and random pain shoots throughout my leg.

Despite all of this I am committed to using this challenge to help strengthen that leg and give me ambition to continue to push through!
