My Story

Saturday 11th Apr
I was just 10 when I had my first episode of supra ventricular tachycardia. I was running to class because recess bell rang and suddenly it was dark, my heart was beating extra fast and I was super tired. After 20 minutes of class, my heart was still beating as if I was still running at recess. I told my teacher and was sent to the office. They didn’t know what was happening but called my parents to come get me. No ambulance, just let my parents figure it out. My parents took me to the hospital and I was seen right away. But still no answers. It had been about an hour already with a heart rate of 130bpm. I was so tired. As the nurse was prepping my arm for IV, my heart rate went back to normal. We soon found out that I had SVT, could live  a normal life and I do.  Episodes happen whenever, wherever. The longest so far has been 3 hours at 210 bpm.
I was told it wasn’t hereditary. Unfortunately my daughter also has SVT and was the same age, 10, when hers started.
This May I will walk for all who have heart disease and for my daughter and I.Â
