Rails to Trails
Monday 4th May Finally made it to the rails to trails. Yippee! I should have taken a picture.  The river was running deeper and faster than I've ever seen it. Truly beautiful. I felt really go od and my pace felt similar to before the stroke. Maybe some day I will run again.đ€
Day 1
Friday 1st May I woke up this morning excited to feel useful.  I was going to do something to make me feel good. I was going to give back while doing something I love to do. Exercise outside. I had already decided I was going to kick off this challenge by heading to The Rails to Trails, my favorite place to walk. It was my first thought this morning. The teaming rain made it obvious that my plans were going to have to change. Unfortunately day 1 will be completed in the gym. đ€·ââïž Share
Support my teams
Tuesday 28th Apr It has always been something I knew about, but never something I participated in. Now, I participate every day.ÂâHow could this happen to me? I was a healthy person who spent many hours at the gym. I have always been active and paid attention to my health. I had no risk factors. None. The truth is, a stroke can happen to anybody at any time.
âI am lucky; I was able to catch the stroke early and regain movement in my arm and leg. It is because of research that the stroke team at NSH was able to reverse the damage.
âThe teams of people who are part of my recovery are numerous, and their work is all made possible by research. Itâs research that proves why these teams of health professionals need to exist.
âUnfortunately, people who suffer strokes never completely return to their "old selves." They become new versions of themselvesâand those new versions take a great deal of work. Â
