Walking for a reason: My 1k a day walk in May for the Heart & Stoke foundation!
Thursday 23rd Apr  Hey everyone! I just wanted to share why I’m committed to walking 1K a day in May in support of the Heart & Stroke Foundation.Â
For me personally, it’s a lot more than just hitting a daily step goal. It’s about taking intentional time to care for my health - both physically & mentally. Life gets busy (especially with a 3 year old), and it’s easy to put yourself last, so this challenge is a way for me to show up for myself in a small, consistent way.Â
Most importantly, it’s about awareness. Heart disease & strokes affect so many people - our families, friends, and co-workers. If you’re like me & work in healthcare, you also see the effects it has on the ones we give our care too, and their loved ones. Yet, it can still feel like it’s something that “happens to someone else”.  By participating in this challenge, I’m reminding not only myself, but hopefully many others, that prevention, movement, and that healthy habits matter more than we realize.Â
Walking is a space for me to clear my head, reset myself, & breathe. Some days are easy, other days require a little more effort (especially after a 12 hour shift!) — but it’s all part of my journey to regain control of my health (I’ve let myself go the last year or two). I have to remind myself it’s not about perfection, but consistency.Â
I decided to sign up for this challenge, not just for me — but for a good cause, & to be partaking in something more than just my normal routine.Â
If you’ve been debating on making some small changes to your habits, join me in taking a step in the right direction! No change is too big or too small, and neither is any donation!
Thank you for your support ♥️
