Dawn Walk

Walking for Dad: In Memory of Tim “Slim Tire” 🎸🎹♥️

September 23rd will mark 4 years since we lost my Dad, Tim (aka Slim Tire), to an undetected aortic aneurysm.

My Dad was the healthiest man in his 70s that I’ve ever known. In his 20s, he earned a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Taekwon-Do, was a competitive kickboxer, and continued to ride his bike and go to the gym every day right up until the day he was hospitalized with the aneurysm.

This type of aneurysm often has no early symptoms and has a 95% mortality rate. His surgery gave us two more days with him than we were originally told we would have, but ultimately, it wasn’t enough to beat those odds.

I wanted to honour and celebrate my Dad’s memory by raising money for Heart & Stroke, in the hope that one day, aneurysms like this can be detected before they become life-threatening.

On the morning of September 23rd, I’ll be participating in a Dawn Walk to remember him, as well as all of the other loved ones who have been affected by, or taken too suddenly by, heart disease and stroke.

If anyone would like to join me for the walk, I would absolutely love the company!

You can also help support my goal by donating whatever you can. The more people who know about Heart & Stroke and the work they do, the greater their impact can be. Please also consider sharing my page with your friends and family to help spread the word.

It means a lot to me to be able to do something in my Dad’s memory, and I’m so grateful to everyone who helps me along the way  ❤️
