Why I Walk

Why I’m Walking: When Your Heart Breaks Before It Stops

There is a moment when life does not collapse all at once.
It happens slowly. Quietly. Without warning.

No alarms. No dramatic ending.

Just a body that starts to fail.
A heart that does not feel right.
A life that begins to narrow.

I know that moment.
Because I have lived it.

The Man Who Thought Strength Was Enough

For most of my life, I built everything the same way.

Work harder.
Push further.
Carry more.

I spent decades in engineering and leadership, solving problems, managing complexity, holding the line. I believed resilience meant endurance. Just keep going.

That belief nearly killed me.

Because you cannot outwork your body.
You cannot ignore failure signals forever.

When the Body Forces the Truth

My collapse was not one event. It was layered.

A heart attack in the left anterior descending artery.
Permanent damage. Reduced function.

Then something harder to understand.

Micro-strokes!
Silent damage accumulated over years.

Underneath it all, the root cause.

Stage IV lymphoma.
An active disease that still has not resolved.

Even now the reality is simple.

The cancer remains.
The system is unstable.
Recovery is not guaranteed.

This is not emotion. This is fact.

Why a Walk Matters

So why walk.

Why something as small as one kilometer.

Because when your body has failed, movement becomes meaning.

Walking is not exercise anymore.
It is proof of life.

Every step is a decision to continue.

What People Get Wrong About Heart and Stroke

Heart attacks are not always dramatic.

They can be quiet.
Pressure. Fatigue. Subtle warning signs.

Strokes are not always visible.

They can be silent.
Accumulating damage over time.

I did not have one event.

I had hundreds.

And I did not know it was happening.

Why This Is Bigger Than Me

This walk is not about me.

It is about awareness.

If someone with discipline, structure, and physical capability can reach this point, then anyone can.

If one person pays attention earlier than I did, this matters.

What Survival Actually Is

Survival is not clean.

It is not a perfect recovery.

It is movement inside damage.

It is continuing while uncertain.

It is waking up and choosing to move forward again.

Why I Walk

I walk because my heart did not stop, but it came close.

I walk because my brain carries damage I never saw coming.

I walk because cancer is still present.

I walk because I am still here.

And not everyone gets that chance.

If You Take One Thing

Do not ignore your body.

Do not assume you are fine.

Do not wait for a dramatic moment.

The signals come early.

Listen to them.

May 1st

This is not about distance.

It is about decision.

One step.
Then another.

That is enough.
