A lifeline for a lifetime

Thursday 13th Aug

We often call a friend, parent, or partner our “lifeline.” For me, that person is my mother.

She is one of the strongest women I know, with a heart of gold. As a teacher, she went above and beyond—funding the education of several students, taking extra tuition classes after school, and still managing to care for our family while working full-time.

A few years ago, during a routine heart check-up, doctors discovered a few blockages and told us she needed an angioplasty immediately. It was a frightening and unexpected moment for our family. For someone who has always been there for everyone else, seeing my mother need help herself has been incredibly difficult. She has always been my strength, and now, more than ever, I want to be hers.

This post is dedicated to all the parents who have been the “lifelines” for their children—those who, like my mum, have faced difficult and frightening moments with incredible strength, courage, and grace.
