2km more in Lake Huron!

Thursday 9th Jul
Cousins adventure this year is being hosted at the Young Family cottage on Frenchman Bay, we’re having an absolute blast! Melissa told me that one of Barb’s friends swims across the bay and calls the route ‘Point to Point’. It sounded like the perfect opportunity for me to explore. My son Liam rode his paddle board along side me, which was good company and support. Total swim was 2.3km.

1st kilometre @ Pinery PP

Saturday 4th Jul
One kilometre down! Picked a windy choppy day at Pinery to get my first swim in.
The Pinery Provincial Park is one of my favourite places to swim. The beach is long and straight, the water is clear and beautiful, on a good day you can swim several kilometres and never be deeper than 10 feet or further than 100m from shore.

Why I am I doing this?

Monday 8th Jun
This July I'm swimming and fundraising for Heart & Stroke! Let me tell you why.

In 2022, after a covid infection, I developed Myopericarditis (a medical condition involving simultaneous inflammation of both the heart muscle (myocarditis) and the protective sac surrounding the heart (pericarditis). I was in the ICU for a week and gradually (mostly) recovered.

In March of 2025 when it happened again, I wasn't so lucky. I have spent the last 15 months in various treatments and am now chronically ill with chronic and constrictive pericarditis, and POTS. My current experimental treatment is working though and I'm getting stronger every day!

It has been a battle and I'm so VERY grateful to my family, friends and Aquafit/therapeutic participants who have been so encouraging and supportive through it all.

Swimming is my sport and doing 20km in July is going to be a challenge for me. I'm so grateful to be in a place where this is going to hard, but no longer impossible. I'm really excited to get started!!

Thank you to my Donors
