🌟 I need your support! 🌟
Cardiovascular disease hit my life personally in 2018 since watching my Dad being rolled in for open heart surgery. A motivated, dedicated and athletic man. He shaped and built my love for fitness. While our medical community and his perseverance allow him to still be walking, it is my turn to fight the battle.
While my life journey has not always shown me to be the epitome of health, I have embraced it regardless of any stage. After having stress fractured both legs (tibs and fibs) and carrying a pregnancy, 2025 was my year for recovery. With my trainer, Max, by my side, I was kicking ass. I then experienced the loss of a dear friend, young, less than 40- cardiovascular. Heartbroken, I pressed on, realizing how precious life is. There isn't always a tomorrow for some.
Only a few short months later, July 2025 to be exact, I got the call from my doc. The marker, and scientific evidence showing I was in double digit risk for a cardiovascular event. Furthermore, the evidence showed that the disease was progressing. I opted for treatment immediately. I have so much to live for. The emotional roller coaster, let me spare you. But let it be known, I am grateful, so grateful I have been given an opportunity and time to do what I possibly can to minimize the risk of an event.
There is a reason it is dubbed the "silent killer". I had no pressing signs or symptoms. I was hitting the gym, I was enjoying my athletics, etc etc, something was just "off". Statistically in women, cardiovascular disease goes unknown unless given a reason for testing, you are over a specific age for that testing, or, morbidly enough, you die from an event.
So, with my 40th approaching, I am pledging to walk, run, move, whatever it takes to hit 50km and raise funds for this foundation that is personal for me, it hits home in a way no charity or volunteer work ever has.
If you aren't in a position to donate, all I ask is please educate yourself and if you have a chance to lend a helping hand to someone experiencing a cardiovascular event, please do. Even the simple act of calling 911 can be lifesaving.
Great message, great cause and good luck!
