Walk for Heart

Remembering Victoria 💜

If you've found your way to this page, thank you - This August I've decided to participate in the 50km Heart & Stroke walk, fundraising for Heart & Stroke. Every donation, big or small, brings us one step closer to our fundraising target.

In February of 2026, I lost Victoria, my fiancee and partner of 15 years, to a sudden and unexpected cardiac event. Her sudden passing left a big void in the lives of her parents, as well as countless friends and co-workers.

Victoria had been working on improving her health in the months leading up to her passing, with the goal of being able to join the Royal Canadian Navy Reserve Unit in Halifax. She was successful in her application to the unit, but unfortunately, passed away shortly after.

I too have been working on improving my health, moreso in the last 5 months; initially, going for a walk was more a means to get out of the house, but I've found that lately I use that time to think, to strategize my tasks for the coming days, and to reconnect with the beautiful nature which surrounds my community.

I don't necessarily expect anyone else to join this 'team', or participate in this challenge with me, but I hope if nothing else to be able to raise awareness for heart health, underscore that "significant cardiac events" are not reserved for the older generations, and prove to myself that I can do this.

If you'll allow me the pun ... any support you can share will be going to a cause near and dear to my heart.

Thank you!
