🌟 250km of gratitude - and a good cause🌟

This June, I’m hiking and fundraising for Heart & Stroke in honour of my friend Karla—who, ten years ago, experienced a sudden cardiac event while driving to work. It’s hard not to think about how differently that day could have ended. Thanks to incredible care—and a few real-life, still unknown guardian angels who stepped in before paramedics arrived— we’ve had ten more years of big laughs, friendship, and memories I’m deeply grateful for.

But many women's stories have different endings. 

Heart and stroke are the leading cause of premature death in Canada for women yet women’s heart health remains underfunded and understudied. For decades, research has focused largely on men, leaving dangerous gaps in how we recognize and treat heart disease in women—where symptoms can look very different. The result? Missed warning signs, delayed diagnoses, and lives lost that could have been saved.

In June, I’ll be hiking 250 kilometres along the Portuguese Camino. While many consider a Camino to be a spiritual journey, for me it’s a journey of gratitude—a chance to slow down, reset, and reflect on just how much I have to be thankful for (including health and friendship). With each step, I’ll be carrying that sense of gratitude forward. 

My goal is to raise $2,500— $10 for every kilometre— to support lifesaving research, improve prevention, and help women get the care and attention they deserve.
