My Updates

Open water

Tuesday 14th Jul
Swimming at our cottage has always been a special family  time- my brother diving off the dock, my Mom taking late night dips under the stars, our nieces Kiera and Emma leaping in fearlessly no matter how chilly the water. These memories are woven into a host of others with family and friends enjoying the peace of the lake together. I swam there again this week and was reminded of the gift of time to listen to the wind, watch the dragon flies, feel the water on my skin. Nature is a healer and the open water is a reminder to plunge into every second of life and appreciate it all.

Pathways

Monday 6th Jul

One of the many pleasures of being back in Ottawa is to rediscover the extensive network of pathways that connect this city. Winding through lush green spaces and along the historic Kichi Zibi River reminds me of how fortunate we are to have so many clear routes to explore and discover.

A healthy heart with clear pathways is a gift. I’m swimming (and cycling) to support the research and scientific advances that help restore healthy heart  circuits and keep the path clear for more memories and moments.

Grateful

Friday 3rd Jul
I’m overwhelmed and very grateful for the support and generous donations  I’ve received in the first 24 hours of my fundraiser! Thank you to everyone who has already donated! 🙌😊
I’m heading to the pool shortly and I’ll be swimming with added energy and appreciation. ❀Swimming has always been an activity that has given me joy and peace. I remember my first swimming lessons  and the feeling of accomplishment when I overcame my  fears and earned my first swimming badges. Today I’ll remember that little girl and feel gratitude for the joy and freedom swimming has always given me.

Heartbeat

Thursday 2nd Jul
Heart health is something close to my own heart. I’ve had family and dear friends impacted by heart issues. My father died of a stroke at 63 and  I have  close friends and family members who have been directly impacted by heart disease. I’ve also been fortunate to experience  the positive results of heart research and advances in heart science delivering hope and a high quality of life to those I love.  I’m swimming to help raise funds, and contribute to more families having more time and  memories with the ones they love. I appreciate your support.
