Oh the places you can go in 5 months

Well, this certainly wasn’t the journey I had planned.

Many of you may not know that back in early March, I ended up in the hospital with pneumonia. What I didn’t realize at the time was that it had seriously impacted my heart, resulting in heart failure. Further testing revealed a major blocked artery — something I had no idea was there.

Thankfully, it was caught in time and treated. I received incredible care from the cardiac unit, and I’m so grateful to the doctors, nurses and everyone who has supported me along the way.

I’m still in treatment and very much on the mend. One thing this experience has taught me is to listen to your body.

And now, five months later, I’m getting ready to take on something I never imagined I’d be doing: the 90 km Heart & Stroke Walk. I’ll be completing the distance throughout September under the team name Ste-Croix Heart & Soul.

Every dollar raised will go directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
